These are bootiful. Chalked full of retro design cues and the use of only premium materials that include aluminum, cowhide leather and lambskin covered memory foam. This is one hell of a personal statement to own. Master & Dynamic Audio has made a splash in the audio world with these Master & Dynamic MW65’s.  As premium and cosmopolitan as these are, they also carried a premium price tag with them. Luckily, prices have eased as I believe a new product is getting ready to be released. (Click on the image to see prices and other relevant information.) Now, I am no fortune teller or soothsayer, so this is just my opinion.

The sound that comes out of these cans can be thought of as what a composer wants from his orchestra. Balance. The pure balance of sound. There is no amped up bass, but just clear balanced sounds of the uppers. mids and lows. All just playing with each other in a natural sound environment. All clean, natural and….balanced. Sound as it should be.

These have a claimed battery life of 24hrs and has Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). The ANC has three settings, high, low and off. It includes a quick charge feature which claims 15 minutes of charging will yield 12hrs. of playtime. This also has two microphones to give you crisp and clear phone calls. This is also is one of th lightest premium headphones on the market with the weight being 245 grams.

The Master & Dynamics MW65 is a sophisticated piece of hardware. Its looks are impressive made with the best materials. The design engineers of these should be very proud of building such a fine piece of equipment.

Another beauty in the stable of Master & Dynamic. A beautiful design with premium materials and an audiophile sound profile sounds like a winner to me. Comfortable and lightweight these are the Cat’s meow. If you don’t recognize that reference then I’m old…Go look it up…I’ll wait. Okay? Got it? Yup. It means that something is appealing…Shall we continue?

The premium materials used throughout this piece of art is impressive. From the premium grade cowhide leather on the exterior headband and the earcup accents to the lambskin backed with soft memory foam on the headband interior. Additionally this has lambskin earpads also backed with memory foam. And they planned it for a long life with interchange parts readily available.

Claimed battery life on a single full charge is 16hrs.  They also use elegantly designed controls but may be small for some users. These do not have Active Noise Cancellation but are being marketed as studio & recording headphone so this means that it has a good noise isolation and I am showcasing the over the ear model. An on the ear model is also available if you can find it.

The sound profile as always with Master & Dynamic is great sound separation in the lows, mids to the highs. A clean audio experience is to be had. Balance and neutrality has always been a major focal point for Master & Dynamic and their sound can only be enhanced with their 40mm beryllium drivers.

So to conclude this review I give the Master & Dynamic MW50+ high marks as I especially love their design elements in their products.

Master & Dynamic MA770

OMG!!! I just got an erection. This is what I call practical sculptural art. An art piece that you can use. This is what I call a beautiful beast. Made with a proprietary concrete composite this is one solid speaker. It weighs over 36lbs, has a 1.5″ titanium dome tweeter and the (2)  4″ sub-woofers are woven Kevlar. The amplifier pushes 100W of class D power. Other materials used are stainless steel and diamond cut anodized aluminum for the control panel. It also comes with a magnetic grille if you want to cover those beautiful drivers. You might want to use them to keep guests from touching the drivers as they are a no touch zone.

This is a premium product no doubt with gorgeous looks. It uses both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity to a smartphone or whatever device you may use. There are other ways to connect to the Master & Dynamic MA770 as well. A 3.5mm auxiliary jack and an optical audio link is also available for you to use and Chromecast is also built in. Streaming services are also available. Can be paired with another MA770 to give you an exceptional stereo sound experience. That’s if you have the extra cash you can part with.

Constructed in a seamless concrete composite form these will produce totally immersive sounds. Filling a large room with a sophisticated audio sounds. The sound profile can only be described as tight, solid and heavenly. It has the power to produce exceptional bass notes while keeping the mids and highs equally on the same level. There is no shaking of the speaker because of its construction and weight. Its as solid as speakers come and a step or two above. This speaker is impressive. Most impressive.

Listening to music is subjective. The sound that emanates from any of these headphones, earbuds, speakers and the like, will be different for each individual. So please be aware, what may sound good to me doesn’t mean it will sound good to you. Please read or watch reviews on any product that I showcase. Or listen to a friends’. Or, go to a retail store and try it out there. A little knowledge can go a long way…then you can buy from me. (Wink, wink)

  1. Hi,

Thanks so much for the article!

I used to deejay in the Late-80 up to half a decade ago. I haven’t really quit, it’s just that I am too busy with too many things and, of course time waits for no one (I am no longer young). Contrary to popular belief, I always saw headphones as part of my professional tools and not exactly a decorum. Funny how the absolutely dazzling nature of the items you have on display, is the very thing that makes me feel, “I have to get these and get back to one of my loves, deejaying”!

    Thanks and warmest regards!

    1. Thanks for the nice comment.

You never forget your loves and at least you can always have the music you loved in the past and present.

  2. Well first off LIke you I love my bluetooth, Im a welder by trade and I wish I had a penny for every time I yanked my  earbuds out of my head raising my hood and one time I had one bud out of my ear to hear the boss and laid a piece of 3/4 ” plait on one bud well I looked like CIA with one wire sticking out of my head lol I’ve invented new words from thet.

Bose is my favorite back in 1975 in Naval station Keflavik Iceland I bought  pair of boss 301 I don’t even know if they make them anymore, and presently we have some boss computer speakers which does better than my home speakers on my home entertainment center by panasonic.

I loved your site out of all I’ve commented on I’ve actually enjoyed you’re bluetooth site thank your for writing it.

    1. Thank you for giving me a great comment. I love Bose too. When I chose my bluetooth headphones it was between Bose and Sony. I got the Sony’s, no regrets but I got my daughter a small Bose Bluetooth speakers which sound big.

  5. I like to comment or offer a personal view of content from my position as an ordinary visitor as I read on and question whether I would be convinced to buy the product.

On opening your post, my attention is drawn to its unique colour but then paradoxically found myself keen to know why  you chose it.

I then discover the post is for the promotion of music related material – which made it appropriate and attractive.

I read on and was impressed by the way the page itself is written to present information so easily. I also  admired how organised the site is in general, very easily navigable.

You promote Master & Dynamic MW65 head phones and many other music products.

Your language denotes someone with knowledge and experience and well as passionate about what they are presenting.

I would be happy to click on it.

I did and surely landed successfully on the Amazon site.

Would I be tempted to buy? Yes

They are truly good quality headphones.

  6. After reading your article I think in my naivety I hadn’t realized that it was possible to spend such large sums on audio systems. I remember when i was a student and when I first started working friends would spend months saving up spare cash to buy expensive audio equipment. Of course these were the days before online music services and digital radio. You basically had to own the long playing records and CDs of the music you wanted to listen to. It is quite different now and I generally think it is true to say that that you can get much better quality systems for lower prices today in terms of our current purchasing power than was possible in the 1980s and 90s. So maybe I should treat myself one day to a decent pair of headphones one of these days. Thanks for an illuminating article. Best regards, Andy

    1. I went to college in the 80’s and 90’s too. I was one of those guys who saved my money during college summer jobs to blow it on expensive stereo equipment.  I had my collection of chrome cassette tapes and CD’s as well. Digital music better suits my taste but digital audio equipment has 4 levels. Cheap, good, better and super expensive. I tend to buy good and better sound equipment nowadays.

      1. I was actually in college in the mid-70’s. So I have gone through music collections first LPS, then audio cassettes and latterly CDs that I still have – I prefer to own music rather than rent it and I like to buy CDs of good street musicians as that has to be the best way of supporting them. Thinking back the big mistake was to offload my LP collection in the early 1980’s. Including many Hendrix and one very rare possibly unique live Cream in concert somewhere in London bootleg. So it goes.

  7. Hi Courtney,

I’d not heard of the Master & Dynamic brand before (blame it on the Sonys, BOSEs and JBLs) but what an introduction! Your review is spellbinding to say the least. You’ve certainly got an ear for the makings of great sound. It’s always thrilling to feel that bass literally hum the walls and window panes but balance is more palatable over a longer period of time. Just looking at the detail on the MW65 makes me want to hide my well worn Sony pair. You’ve done a great job with this one.

    We are Blessed.
